2,239-Ton Structural Steel Package
25-Ton Roof Truss Optimisation
The Asia School of Business (ASB) Academic Building, established by Bank Negara Malaysia, involved the supply and installation of a 2,239-ton structural steel package for a landmark higher education development in Kuala Lumpur. Within this large-scale project, one of the key engineering challenges was delivering the roof steel structure under tower crane lifting limitations and complex site constraints. Sanki applied engineering-led constructability planning by segmenting the roof truss, designing bolted splice connections, coordinating detailed shop drawings, and planning a safe erection sequence. This practical engineering approach improved constructability, reduced site risks, and enabled efficient installation while maintaining structural integrity across the overall steel package.
The roof steel structure required practical engineering solutions to overcome site lifting constraints while maintaining structural performance.
Re-engineered the original roof truss into manageable lifting segments to suit the tower crane's lifting capacity and site conditions.
Designed prefabricated bolted splice connections to eliminate site welding and improve installation efficiency and safety.
Balanced lifting requirements, transportation, structural stability, and installation planning through coordinated engineering studies.
Detailed engineering coordination ensured the fabricated steel structure could be installed accurately across the overall building package.
Coordinated structural steel, roofing, ceiling, M&E services, and architectural requirements to minimise construction clashes.
Verified actual building dimensions, structural levels, column positions, and connection interfaces before fabrication.
Incorporated verified as-built information into fabrication drawings to improve fit-up accuracy and minimise installation adjustments on site.
Careful erection planning ensured every roof truss segment could be installed safely while maintaining structural stability throughout construction.
Developed a planned erection sequence with temporary bracing and support systems to maintain stability during installation.
Worked closely with the main contractor, site engineers, and lifting supervisors to safely position, align, and assemble each structural segment.
Combined engineering planning, prefabrication, and coordinated installation to reduce site risks and improve construction efficiency.
The successful delivery of the Asia School of Business (ASB) Academic Building demonstrates Sanki’s capability to engineer, fabricate, coordinate, and install large-scale structural steel packages for complex institutional developments. By applying practical engineering solutions to challenging roof steel construction within a 2,239-ton structural steel package, the team improved constructability, enhanced installation safety, and delivered reliable project outcomes.
